My dear friends… it’s time for a new Free Pattern! For what, are you thinking? Well, to start making some Christmas ornaments with Decorative Painting technique!
As usual, I want to be honest and tell you that this project came to life, thanks to a wonderful event that I had the pleasure and the honor to be involved in!
The initiative is called Live with Art, and it was a kind of LIVE Demo marathon, where Italian and international artists have been offering a free live demo and a free pattern. This idea took place in Brazil first, and then it really crossed the Atlantic Ocean and arrived also here in Italy!
So, since Art is a universal language that, as I always mention, needs to bring people together instead of keeping them apart, I immediately said YES when I was asked to join.
At the very beginning, I was so happy and euphoric about that and I didn’t realize it was a LIVE Demo, but after a couple of minutes I figured it out and… HELP!!! I started getting really nervous, my hands began sweating and my heart beating like crazy!!!
But then I told to myself that we need to try new things, that we need to believe in our dreams… always and that, as Thomas Jefferson said, “If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done”.
The days before my first live have been a mix of different emotions and at the beginning of the LIVE I was a little nervous… and if you were there maybe you could tell! 😊
But then, as I took the first brush, I got calmer… and I just follow the flow!
As I also mentioned at the beginning of my Live, I decided to paint the hedgehog for two main reasons.
First because, when I started with my own designs in 2016, the hedgehog was one of the first thing I painted, and I am really attached to him. So, I wanted to start my LIVE Demo adventure with him as I started my adventure as a Designer.
Then I also choose the hedgehog for a reason of “technique”. Yes, because I have been hearing for so long, from students or other painting friends, that the Liner brush is too difficult to use. Some people are actually afraid to use it!
Well, the Liner is an awesome brush, that allow us to make lots of different things: lettering, details… and also hedgehogs! There’s no need to be scared of it… you just need some tips and you’re ready to go!
