Decorative Painting for beginners

Ok, yes… I have to admit…when I go to IKEA, I don’t know where the no-purchase exit is!!! I like buying inexpensive things that I can decorate and use for a gift or just for my home décor.
I love the warm colors of fall, and I loooooove painting fall designs, so I decided to paint a pumpkin. Since I like patchwork too, but I am terrible in sewing, I told to myself… ok let’s paint a patchwork style pumpkin…. How??? But with the Decorative Painting technique of course!!!
So, like for other designs, this is another gift for you… a Free Pattern with a project on Decorative Painting for beginners!!!

DecoArt Vintage Effect Wash

This is a very easy project that I painted on a wood board bought from IKEA; there are few colors needed, so it’s perfect for Decorative Painting beginners or if you want to learn the basic technique.

I used all acrylic paints by DecoArt Americana, because I think they are the best in terms of coverage and long-lasting quality. I also had two new products to try: one color of the DecoArt Chalky Finish line and one of the DecoArt Vintage Effects line, and I actually loved them both!!! (product review here)
I also used a “secret ingredient” to make a specific effect… but you will have to read the instructions to find out what it is! 😉

Maybe at this point you might be thinking: “ok, but I have never painted… I don’t know anything about Decorative Painting and acrylics…”

No problem!

On my YouTube channel there are some video tutorials where I will show you exactly what you need to do, for example how to make floats for shading or highlighting!
Ok, I have to tell you though… painting, like many other creative hobbies, needs practice… so don’t get frustrated or discouraged… just keep on practicing and try again!

And, however, I am here to help you out, so just get in touch with me if you have troubles!!!
I hope you will enjoy painting this design!

I went and subscribed to your YouTube channel but couldn’t find a video for floating (especially the large floated area in the heart and star on the cannisters). You did mention it – will that be coming soon?
P.S. I loved your videos on the texturing and coloring of the texture! Thank you for the patterns and the tutorials.

I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours lately, but I by no
means found any fascinating article like yours.
It is pretty value enough for me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made just right content material as you probably did, the net can be much more helpful than ever before.
