It is never too early to paint some Christmas projects! I really like painting Christmas designs, because I get inspired in so many ways and I can have fun and use many different \u201csparkling\u201d products!!! So, here I am with another FREE design<\/a> and a Christmas decorative painting<\/a> decoration for beginners!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As some of you probably know already, I really like to buy some IKEA<\/strong> products and bring them to life again with a handmade decoration. I also think that they could be a nice idea for a handmade creation, for a present or for those lovely craft markets that are so popular during Christmas time and that bring more magic in the air!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I did for the \u201cPatchwork Pumpkin\u201d<\/a> design, that as you can imagine is a fall design, I wanted to use an IKEA wood board, but of course you can choose another surface or material: metal, tin, fabric\u2026 that\u2019s up to you!
Moreover, there are few colors needed, so it\u2019s perfect for Decorative Painting beginners or if you want to learn the basic technique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used all acrylic paints from DecoArt Americana,<\/a> I think they are the best in terms of coverage and long-lasting quality. I also had two new products to try: one color of the DecoArt Chalky Finish<\/a> line and one of the DecoArt Vintage Effects<\/a> line, and I actually love them both!!!
At the beginning, I used the Chalky Finish paint only for my Home D\u00e9cor<\/a> projects (as I did for the furniture makeover<\/a> project that you can find in the Blog).
I actually found out that this product line is also good for Decorative Painting! I used it as the background of the design, and I have to tell you\u2026 since the paint is really smooth once dry, it is really easy to float the other colors for shading or highlighting.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ok, maybe at this point you could think: \u201cwell\u2026 but I have never painted\u2026 I don\u2019t know anything about Decorative Painting and acrylics\u2026\u201d<\/p>No problem!!!<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On my YouTube<\/strong><\/a> channel there are some short tutorials where I will show you exactly what you need to do, for example how to make floats<\/a> or how to use stencils!<\/a>
Ok, I have to tell you though\u2026 painting, like many other creative hobbies, needs practice\u2026 so don\u2019t get frustrated or discouraged\u2026 just keep on practicing and try again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
